This bat cake recipe uses two round cakes to form the body, wings, and ears. Decorate with black, purple, orange, and white frostings for a festive look. Perfect for Halloween parties or a fun baking project.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Bake two 8-inch round cakes using your preferred cake mix. Allow them to cool completely.
  2. Place one cake round on your serving platter as the bat's body. Cut the second cake into a zigzag/diamond pattern down the center to create wings and ears.
  3. Position the body cake centrally. Arrange the zigzag pieces on either side for wings. Place the small diamond pieces at the top of the body for ears.
  4. Cover the entire cake with black frosting using an offset spatula for a smooth finish.
  5. Pipe purple frosting details along the wings to enhance the bat-like look. Use orange frosting to add accents inside the ears.
  6. Pipe two white frosting eyes on the body, add tiny black pupils. Pipe an orange nose. Add white fangs under the nose.
  7. Slice and serve your spooky bat cake.
