These Bloody Finger Hot Dogs are a spooky twist on a classic cookout food. With simple cuts to create nails and knuckles, then boiled and served in ketchup-slathered buns, they're perfect for a Halloween party. An optional onion slice adds an extra touch of realism.
Ingredients
Directions
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil on the stove.
- To create the fingernail effect, cut two slits along the sides of the hot dog, then a straight cut across the top. Make a curved cut for the bottom of the nail bed, then carefully slice off the top piece to form the nail. Refer to the blog photo for sizing.
- For the knuckles, make one slit down the middle, then two crescent-shaped slits above and below it. Halfway between that knuckle and the nail, add two more crescent slits. Finally, add two crescent slits at the bottom.
- Boil the hot dogs for 4 to 5 minutes.
- Place each finger into a hot dog bun that has been generously spread with ketchup. Smear extra ketchup on the bottom of each finger and a bit at the top of the bun.
- Optionally, add a thinly sliced square of white onion as a fingernail, though this extra step is not necessary.
