This candy corn milkshake recipe uses vanilla ice cream and orange sherbet to create festive yellow, orange, and white layers. After assembling the layers in cups with brief freezing between each step, top with whipped cream and colorful sprinkles for a spooky-sweet dessert.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Allow the vanilla ice cream to sit at room temperature for about 25 minutes until it's soft. Then, remove about one-third of it into a separate bowl and return the rest to the freezer. Mix in yellow food coloring drop by drop until you achieve the shade you like, stirring thoroughly.
  2. Take the orange sherbet out of the freezer so it begins to soften.
  3. Prepare your serving cups (mason jars, clear plastic cups, or glass tumblers). Spoon the yellow-tinted ice cream into the bottom of each cup, filling them about one-third full. Smooth the top evenly, then wipe any smears from the inside walls with a paper towel. Place the cups in the freezer for 5 to 10 minutes to firm up the yellow layer.
  4. Retrieve the vanilla ice cream from the freezer again so it softens slightly.
  5. Take the cups out of the freezer and carefully spoon the orange sherbet on top of the yellow layer, filling the cups to about two-thirds full. Smooth the surface and clean the inside of the cups with a paper towel. Return the cups to the freezer for another 5 to 10 minutes.
  6. Remove the cups from the freezer and add the final layer of vanilla ice cream, filling each cup to within half an inch of the rim. Smooth the tops once more.
  7. Finish each dessert with a generous dollop of whipped cream or Cool Whip and a sprinkle of black, yellow, and orange sprinkles. Keep them in the freezer until you're ready to serve.
