Blast off into Halloween with DIY planet costumes made from hula hoops, spray-painted rockets, and sparkly stars!
Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at delineateyourdwelling.com.
These DIY planet Halloween costumes use hula hoops wrapped in glitter washi tape to form the rings, with beanies topped by gold spray-painted plastic rockets held up by twisted pipe cleaners. Gold stars glued to hats and shirts complete the cosmic look, and the whole outfit is wearable thanks to simple shoulder straps made from yarn or string.
You'll need
Directions
- Coat the plastic airplanes (your rockets) with gold spray paint, using one per hat.
- Twist three gold pipe cleaners together to form a single strand that is sturdy yet flexible enough to allow the rockets to bounce as if flying.
- Bend the twisted pipe cleaners into a gentle arc, then attach them to the beanies with hot glue.
- Purchase four hula hoops (two per child) and decorate them by wrapping with colorful glitter washi tape for extra sparkle.
- Use yarn or string to tie the hula hoops together and fashion simple shoulder straps from them.
- Apply hot glue to gold stars and stick them onto the hats and tee shirts.
