This project guides you through crafting custom crystal ball candlestick toppers using transparency film, glass bulbs, and smoke-filled interiors. By printing spooky designs, rolling them into smoked glass ornaments, and securing them atop painted candlesticks, you create unique Halloween decor that combines light, shadow, and mystery.

You'll need

Inkjet Transparency Film

Candlesticks – use an assortment of heights and styles. I found all these at garage sales and painted them black.

Black Spray Paint

Clear Glass Christmas Bulbs – I used the 70mm size but anything close will work.

Hot Glue

Candle

Crystal Ball shape pattern

Directions

Select your preferred spooky designs and arrange them within the empty template provided.

Use your inkjet printer to transfer the arranged designs onto the transparency sheets.

Carefully cut along the solid black border to separate each shape from the rest of the sheet.

Light a candle and carefully position the bulb's opening just above the flame to capture smoke. Pause periodically to allow the glass to cool before adding more smoke until you achieve your preferred level of darkness.

After the bulb has cooled completely, tightly roll the printed transparency so it fits through the opening.

Apply a small dot of hot glue to the inner rim of the bulb's opening, then attach the top edge of the rolled transparency to this glue spot to keep the image upright.

Place the finished orbs onto your prepared candlesticks, using additional glue if needed to secure them in place.
