Cookie-Cutter Pumpkin Carving With Kids

1. Carve out the pumpkin guts and select a few of your favorite cookie cutters. You could try letters, flowers, stars — virtually any shaped cookie cutter. Pick one and position it on the pumpkin, then tap lightly with a rubber mallet.
2. Let the kids help with the tapping step.
3. Once the cookie cutter is all the way through, it's time to get out a knife. Obviously, this is an adults-only step. Keeping the cookie cutter in place, insert your knife and cut through the pumpkin skin. Once the carving is done, add a candle and you're good to go.
