These homemade Halloween donuts are made with cocoa powder and dark chocolate for a rich, fudgy flavor. The dough comes together quickly, and you can shape them by hand, with cookie cutters, or using a donut mold. After baking, they’re dipped in melted chocolate and decorated with festive sprinkles and candy eyeballs for a fun, eerie finish.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine all donut ingredients. Stir with a spatula and then knead into a soft dough. If it feels too sticky, add a light dusting of flour and keep kneading until smooth and no longer cracking.
  2. Prepare a 9x13 inch baking dish with parchment paper, and preheat your oven to 350°F. If using a donut mold, grease it with cooking spray.
  3. Form the donuts using one of three methods: (a) Tear off a small piece of dough, roll into a long cylinder, and join the ends to form a ring. (b) On a floured surface, roll the dough to about ½-inch thickness, cut rings with a round cookie cutter, then cut out the centers with a smaller cutter. (c) Drop spoonfuls of the dough into a greased donut mold. Brush the tops with egg wash.
  4. Bake the donuts for 10–12 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  5. Melt the dark chocolate and coconut oil together in the oven, heating in 30-second bursts at full power until smooth and lump-free, stirring after each burst.
  6. Dip each cooled donut into the melted chocolate, place back on the wire rack, and decorate with Halloween sprinkles and candy eyeballs. Serve.
