This Halloween recipe turns crescent rolls into realistic-looking intestines filled with seasoned ground turkey, peppers, and cheese. After baking with garlic butter and a final brush of marinara, they're served on a bed of extra meat and melted mozzarella for a delightfully disgusting dish.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, warm the olive oil. Sauté the chopped red onion and red bell pepper for 2–3 minutes. Add the ground turkey and cook for about 3 minutes, then season with garlic powder, season salt, and dried oregano. Continue browning until the turkey is fully cooked.
  2. Stir in the pasta sauce, then remove the skillet from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
  3. Preheat your oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter and 1 teaspoon garlic powder. Stir well and set aside.
  5. Unroll both crescent roll sheets and cut each into 3 lengthwise strips, giving you 6 strips total.
  6. Sprinkle a little shredded mozzarella down the center of each strip, then spoon some of the turkey filling on top. Fold the dough sides up over the filling and pinch the edges to seal.
  7. Place the filled rolls on the prepared baking sheet, arranging them in winding, intestine-like shapes.
  8. Brush the rolls with the garlic butter and bake for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven, lightly brush with additional pasta sauce, then scatter any remaining turkey mixture around the rolls and sprinkle with extra mozzarella. Return to the oven and bake for 5–7 minutes, until golden brown. Serve warm.
