This recipe guides you through making 6-inch long bread sticks shaped like witch's fingers. You will prepare a 500 g bread dough, let it rise for 40 minutes, and bake it for 20 minutes. Before finishing, you will brush the sticks with a mixture of olive oil and cilantro, then attach pecan nuts to the tips using egg. The final product can be served immediately or stored and baked later.
Ingredients
Directions
- Prepare the dough by following the directions on the 500 g bread mix packet. Once combined, roll the mixture into elongated shapes measuring roughly 1 inch wide and 6 inches long.
- Allow the formed sticks to rest and expand for about 40 minutes, or until they have doubled in volume.
- Before placing them in the oven, use the sharp point of a knife to make small cuts along the top surface of each stick.
- Place the sticks in the oven and bake for approximately 20 minutes.
- When the bread is nearly done and starting to turn golden, remove the tray. Brush the tops with a blend of 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil and 1 tablespoon of finely chopped cilantro. Then, use the beaten egg to glue a pecan nut onto the end of each stick.
- Return the tray to the oven to finish baking until fully golden, or allow the bread to cool completely and store it in the refrigerator. You can bake them later right before you plan to eat them.
- Arrange the finished bread sticks in a bowl lined with paper towels. Attach a festive Halloween tag to the bowl to let your guests know what spooky treat they are enjoying.
