This simple craft transforms a basic white paper lantern into a ghostly decoration. Drape fabric over the lantern, add felt facial features, and hang it from a hook for an eerie effect. It's perfect for Halloween porch decor or yard display.

Directions

  1. Start by collecting all materials. Make sure you have enough white fabric to cover your lantern so it hangs nicely. Put the paper lantern together, then lay the fabric over it. Snip a small opening at the top of the fabric so the metal hook on the lantern can come through. Attach a piece of string or twine to that hook for suspending the ghost. If needed, cut the bottom of the fabric to form a ghostly silhouette.
  2. Using black felt or foam, cut three oval shapes for the eyes and mouth. Stick them onto the fabric with hot glue or fabric glue. Finally, hang your creation from a low tree branch, a lamppost, or a shepherd's hook.
