These six creative and healthy Halloween treats are perfect for kids. From apple monster mouths and banana ghosts to fruit kabobs, spider Oreos, cockroach cookies, and a pumpkin orange, each recipe uses simple ingredients for a festive snack. They're quick to assemble and sure to delight little monsters.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. For the apple monster mouths, slice four large apples in half. On the skin side of each half, carve out a small center section. Press two candy eyes into the peanut butter you'll spread in that cut. Use a banana slice (or strawberry slice) for the tongue, and arrange almond slivers as teeth.
  2. To make banana ghosts, cut two bananas in half crosswise, then slice each half lengthwise into two strips (four strips total). Press candy eyes and chocolate chips onto the strips for eyes and a mouth. Serve the ghosts plain, or spread a tablespoon of peanut butter on a toasted whole wheat slice and place the ghosts on top.
  3. Create Halloween fruit kabobs by threading banana slices, grapes, and thin apple slices onto three bamboo skewers, alternating until full. Dot with candy eyes and chocolate chips before serving.
  4. For Oreo spider cupcakes, spread strawberry jam on a toasted bread slice. Spread peanut butter onto an Oreo and press it onto the bread. Use peanut butter to attach two candy eyes to the Oreo, then draw spider legs with melted dark chocolate.
  5. To assemble spooky cockroach cookies, take four sugar cookies. Spread a little peanut butter onto four pitted Medjool dates and stick each date onto a cookie. Add one candy eye per cookie, then use leftover melted dark chocolate to draw six legs.
  6. Make a pumpkin orange by peeling a whole orange and inserting a cilantro or parsley stem into the top to resemble a pumpkin stem.
