Meatball Mummies
Wrap up dinner with spooky Meatball Mummies—juicy meatballs in crispy golden bandages!
Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at highheelsandgrills.com.
These Halloween-themed meatballs are made from a simple blend of ground beef, breadcrumbs, and seasonings, then baked until cooked through. Once slightly cooled, each meatball is wrapped in phyllo dough strips to resemble a mummy, brushed with marinara, and baked again until the dough is crispy and golden.
Ingredients
Directions
- Heat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a mixing bowl, stir together 1 pound of ground beef, 1/2 cup breadcrumbs, 1/4 cup milk, 1 egg, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper until everything is combined.
- Shape the meat mixture into little balls, about 1 inch across.
- Set the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Cook them for 15 to 20 minutes, or until fully cooked.
- While those bake, get your phyllo dough strips ready.
- Take the sheet out of the oven and let the meatballs cool a bit.
- Take each meatball and wrap a strip of phyllo dough around it. Leave the ends loose so they look like mummy bandages.
- Brush 1/4 cup of marinara sauce over the wrapped meatballs.
- Pop them back in the oven for another 5 to 10 minutes, until the dough turns golden and crispy.
- Serve these mummies while they're still warm.
