This Halloween snack mix features two types of muddy buddies: one with chocolate and Rice Chex, and another with white chocolate and Bugles. After coating and drying each, they're combined with corn chips, pretzels, Reese's Pieces, and M&Ms for a crunchy, sweet, and salty treat perfect for parties.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 1/4 cup peanut butter, 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, and 2 tablespoons butter. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until smooth and melted. Alternatively, microwave in a bowl for 20-second intervals, stirring between each, until melted.
  2. Place 4 cups Rice Chex in a large bowl and pour the melted chocolate mixture over them. Stir until the cereal is evenly coated.
  3. Transfer the coated cereal to a large ziplock bag and add 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar. Seal the bag and shake vigorously until all pieces are covered in sugar.
  4. Line a baking sheet with parchment or wax paper and spread the coated cereal in a single layer. Let it dry for about 20 minutes, then set aside.
  5. In a small saucepan, combine 1/4 cup peanut butter, 1/2 cup white chocolate chips, and 2 tablespoons butter. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until smooth and melted. Or microwave in 20-second bursts, stirring between, until melted.
  6. Place 4 cups Bugles in a large bowl and pour the melted white chocolate mixture over them. Stir until the Bugles are well coated.
  7. Transfer the coated Bugles to a large ziplock bag and add 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar. If desired, add 3-4 drops food coloring and 1-2 tablespoons colored sprinkles. Seal the bag and shake until evenly coated.
  8. Line another baking sheet with parchment or wax paper and spread the coated Bugles in a single layer. Let them dry for about 20 minutes.
  9. In a large bowl, combine the dried Chex mixture, dried Bugles mixture, 3 cups corn chips, 3 cups mini pretzel twists, 2 cups Reese's Pieces, and 2 cups M&Ms (regular or peanut). Stir until everything is evenly mixed.
  10. Transfer the snack mix to large ziplock bags or airtight containers for storage.
