This recipe shows how to wrap a brie wheel in strips of crescent roll dough to resemble a mummy, bake until golden, and serve on a charcuterie board with jams, fruits, and bread. It's a fun and delicious centerpiece for any Halloween gathering.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a large cutting board. Press the perforations together to form a single sheet with few visible seams.
  3. With a sharp knife, cut the dough into long strips about 1/3 inch wide. Ensure the strips are long enough to wrap around the brie and meet on the opposite side.
  4. If the dough doesn't stick to itself, moisten the ends with a few drops of warm water to help seal.
  5. Continue wrapping the brie with strips, varying the angle each time. Make sure each strip connects at the back. Leave a small gap for the candy eyes.
  6. For a shiny golden crust, whisk together 1 egg yolk with 1 tablespoon of water to make an egg wash. Brush this over the dough before baking.
  7. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and center the wrapped brie on it. Bake at 375°F for 15 minutes, until the dough is golden and cooked through and the cheese is bubbly. Take out of the oven and press two candy monster eyes onto the top.
  8. Transfer the baked brie to the center of a charcuterie board. Fill a small dish with your choice of jam (cherry, raspberry, apricot, fig, or blueberry) and place it nearby.
  9. Arrange apple wedges, pear slices, sweet grapes, fresh blueberries, and slices of French baguette around the brie. Optionally, add salami, prosciutto, olives, gherkin pickles, dried apricots, almonds, walnuts, or pecans. Serve immediately and store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.
