This Halloween snack mix features a crunchy Chex cereal base coated in chocolate peanut butter and powdered sugar, mixed with candy corn and M&Ms. The star ingredient is pretzel mummies decorated with white chocolate drizzle and candy eyeballs. It's a sweet, salty, and fun treat perfect for parties.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Put 8 cups of Chex cereal into a big bowl and set it aside.
  2. Combine 1 cup chocolate chips, 1/2 cup peanut butter, and 1/4 cup butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 30 seconds, then stir.
  3. Keep microwaving in 15-second bursts, stirring after each, until fully melted and smooth.
  4. Alternatively, melt them in a heatproof bowl set over simmering water, stirring often until smooth.
  5. After the mixture is melted, stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  6. Pour the chocolate mixture over the cereal and toss gently to coat evenly.
  7. Move the coated cereal to a 2-gallon freezer bag, large bowl, or stockpot. Add 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar and cover tightly with a lid if using a bowl or pot.
  8. Shake vigorously until all cereal pieces are coated in sugar.
  9. You can keep the mix in the bowl or transfer it to a sheet pan or baking dish.
  10. For the mummies, melt 1 cup white melting wafers or white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 30 seconds, stir, then repeat in 15-second bursts until smooth.
  11. You can also melt them in a heatproof bowl over simmering water, stirring often until smooth.
  12. Pour the melted white chocolate into a piping bag or squeeze bottle.
  13. Alternatively, use a ziplock bag with a tiny corner snipped off—don't cut too much or the drizzle will be too thick.
  14. Arrange the 2 cups of mini chocolate-covered pretzels in a single layer on a parchment- or wax paper-lined baking sheet.
  15. Use the piping bag to drizzle the white chocolate over the pretzels in a zigzag pattern, adding extra at one end to mimic bandages.
  16. While the drizzle is still wet, press candy eyeballs onto the 'head' end to make the mummy face.
  17. Repeat for all pretzels.
  18. Refrigerate the mummy pretzels for about 5 minutes to set.
  19. In a large bowl, combine the Chex mix with 1 cup of Brach's Autumn Blend candy (or plain candy corn) and 1 cup of peanut or regular M&M's (Ghoul's Mix).
  20. Toss gently to distribute, then transfer to a serving dish.
  21. Take the set mummy pretzels from the fridge and add them to the mix.
  22. Serve and enjoy your spooky Mummy Munch snack mix!
