Create budget-friendly bleeding candles using white and red taper or pillar candles from the dollar store. Press tacks or pins into the white candles and drip hot red wax over them to simulate blood gushing from wounds. Arrange your creepy creations in a candelabra or cluster for a chilling Halloween display.

You'll need

Directions

  1. Lay down parchment paper to protect your workspace, then remove any stickers or plastic wrapping from your candles. White and red candles from the dollar store work great for keeping costs low.
  2. Light the red pillar candle and start dripping the hot wax over a white pillar candle that has cut tacks pressed into it. The wax will look like blood gushing from the pierced spots. Cut tacks cost about $2 at a hardware store, and remember to be careful since wax is hot.
  3. Experiment with other objects like push pins or a small knife to create different pierced candle effects. Let your creativity run wild.
  4. For taper candles, crumple a small piece of tinfoil around the base so the candle stands upright, then drip red wax from the top down the entire length of the candle.
  5. Display your finished bleeding candles in a stunning candelabra or group them together for a spooky Halloween centerpiece.
