In this Halloween game, players craft their own pumpkin balls with green foam stems and jack-o'-lantern faces. They then race to a finish line while balancing two pumpkins on cardboard tubes, restarting if any drop. The fastest player to complete the course wins.

You'll need

Directions

  1. Collect at least four cardboard tubes such as those from toilet paper, paper towels, or wrapping paper.
  2. From green glitter foam sheets, cut out a pumpkin stem.
  3. Cut two identical stems, glue them back-to-back, and attach to a plastic ball.
  4. With a black marker, draw a jack-o'-lantern face on the ball.
  5. Repeat steps 2-4 for three more balls so each player has two pumpkins.
  6. Mark a start line and a finish line for the game.
  7. Set each pumpkin on top of a cardboard tube holder.
  8. Set a timer for one minute.
  9. From the start, race to the finish line while balancing the pumpkins on the tubes. You cannot use your body or the other pumpkin to steady them.
  10. If a pumpkin falls off or you touch it with your body or the other pumpkin, you must go back to the start.
  11. The first player to cross the finish line with both pumpkins still on their tubes wins.
