These spider deviled eggs are a fun and festive Halloween appetizer. Hard-boiled eggs are filled with a smoky paprika yolk mixture, then topped with olive spiders. Each spider is made from a single olive, sliced into a body and eight legs.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Place 6 large eggs in a saucepan, cover with cold water, bring to a boil, then cover and remove from heat. Let sit for 12 minutes, then transfer to an ice bath.
  2. Once cool, crack and peel the eggs. Rinse them under cold water, then slice each egg in half lengthwise.
  3. Carefully pop out the yolks into a medium bowl. Set the empty egg white halves aside.
  4. Mash the yolks with a fork until crumbly. Stir in 4 tablespoons mayonnaise, 1.5 teaspoons mustard, salt and pepper to taste, and 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika. Mix until smooth.
  5. Spoon or pipe the yolk mixture evenly into each egg white half.
  6. For each spider, take one large pitted black olive. Cut it in half lengthwise. Use one half as the spider body. Slice the other half into 8 thin strips for legs. Arrange the legs on the yolk filling, pressing them in slightly, then place the body half on top.
