These spooky chocolate chip cookies have a chewy, tender texture from the unique shaping technique. Decorated with candy eyes and Halloween sprinkles, they're perfect for parties. Bake at 325°F for a soft center and golden edges.
Ingredients
Directions
- Set oven to 325°F and line baking sheets with silicone mats or parchment.
- In a bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt. In another bowl, beat melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth. Mix in egg, yolk, and vanilla.
- Add dry ingredients to wet, mixing on low just until combined. Fold in chocolate chips and half the sprinkles.
- Scoop dough into large portions (about 3 tablespoons each or scant 1/4 cup). Roll into balls, then using fingertips, twist each ball apart into two rough halves. Place halves on sheet, jagged side up, 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 12-14 minutes, rotating pans halfway, until edges are lightly golden and set but centers remain soft and puffy. Remove before they look fully done.
- Right out of the oven, press candy eyes into each cookie (vary numbers). Sprinkle remaining sprinkles on top, gently pressing if needed.
- Let cookies cool on sheets for 10-15 minutes, then move to a rack.
