These spooky goat cheese fingers are a savory appetizer perfect for Halloween. Made from creamy goat cheese blended with roasted red peppers, they're shaped like fingers and decorated with red almond 'nails.' Serve with crackers for a ghoulishly good treat.
Ingredients
Directions
- Finely dice 1/4 cup of roasted red peppers from the jar. Place them in a blender or food processor along with the room temperature goat cheese and blend until smooth. Add salt and pepper to your liking. Chill the mixture in the fridge until it's cold—this makes it easier to shape and helps the fingers keep their form.
- Using a spoon, take a tablespoon-sized portion of the chilled cheese mixture and roll it into a finger-shaped log, matching the length and width of an actual finger. Don't worry if it's not perfectly uniform; slight irregularities add to the realistic look. Continue with the rest of the mixture, arranging the finished fingers on a serving tray.
- With a small paring knife, lightly cut lines across the top and middle of each finger to create 'knuckle' marks.
- Pick out the whole, unbroken almond slices—you need one per finger. Use a red edible marker to color each almond slice red. Then gently press one colored almond onto the tip of each goat cheese finger to look like a painted fingernail.
- Present the fingers with a cheese knife and a selection of plain and whole-wheat crackers and flatbread.
