Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at plaidonline.com.
This project uses Stiffy fabric stiffener and paint to create decorative bows and pumpkins from cheesecloth. The bows are attached to candlesticks, while the pumpkins are formed over balloons and painted in warm autumn hues. It's a fun way to customize your fall centerpieces.

Directions
- In a bowl, pour some Stiffy and then mix in a little paint. Do this separately for every color you plan to use.
- Snip your cheesecloth to the length you want and tie it into a bow shape.
- Submerge each bow in the Stiffy-and-paint mixture.
- Lay the coated bows onto a nonstick work surface.
- Adjust the bows' shape and tuck plastic wrap into every loop so they hold their form.
- Let the bows dry completely, which takes overnight.
- After they're dry, take out the plastic wrap and snip the ends into a V shape.
- Attach the bows to the candlesticks using hot glue.
- Inflate the balloons to your preferred size.
- Wind a length of twine around each balloon to create the characteristic pumpkin grooves.
- Slice the cheesecloth into strips.
- Pour Stiffy into another bowl, dip the strips in, squeeze off extra, then wrap them around the balloons. Build up with multiple layers.
- Cut a bigger cheesecloth strip, dip it in Stiffy, shape it into a stem, and place it on the nonstick surface. Let everything dry overnight.
- Pop each balloon and pull it out from inside the dried cheesecloth pumpkin.
- Paint the pumpkin forms using Orange Sherbert, Pumpkin Orange, and Harvest Orange. Then shade the indentations with Nutmeg Brown.
- Color the stems with Parakeet paint.
- Use hot glue to fix the stems onto the pumpkins.
