This Halloween snack mix combines homemade witch hats made from Bugles and black candy melts with a sweet puppy chow of Count Chocula, Franken Berry, and Boo-Berry cereals coated in chocolate and powdered sugar. Add chocolate chips, Indian candy corn, and candy pumpkins for a festive, crunchy treat.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Set aside 35 black candy melt disks. Melt the remaining black candy melts following the package instructions.
  2. Line a flat surface with foil or parchment paper. Place the 35 reserved candy disks on the lined surface.
  3. Dip the wide end of each Bugle into the melted black chocolate, then place it onto a candy disk. Repeat for all 35 Bugles. Let them sit for 5 minutes. If the chocolate hardens, remelt it.
  4. Dip the entire Bugle and attached disk into the melted black chocolate, then tap off any excess. Let the hats sit for 10 minutes to harden.
  5. Melt the orange candy melts according to package directions. Spoon into a piping bag or a plastic sandwich bag with a tiny corner snipped off. Pipe an orange ring around the rim of each witch hat. Let the chocolate harden.
  6. In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine 1/2 cup chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring after each, until melted and smooth.
  7. In an extra-large bowl, combine the Count Chocula, Franken Berry, and Boo-Berry cereals. Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the cereal and toss to coat evenly.
  8. Pour the powdered sugar into a gallon-sized resealable bag. Add the coated cereal, seal the bag, and shake until all cereal pieces are covered in sugar.
  9. Spread the coated cereal onto a flat surface to cool. In a large bowl, mix together the cooled cereal, the remaining 1 cup chocolate chips, Indian candy corn, and candy pumpkins.
  10. Either mix the witch hats into the puppy chow or sprinkle them on top before serving.
