This project guides you through creating a festive mummy-themed trick-or-treat bowl using a clear plastic bowl, white or cream fabric strips, googly eyes, buttons, and Hershey’s candy. By tearing and gluing the fabric to cover the bowl and adding button eyes, you will craft a charming Halloween decoration ready to hold your favorite sweets.
You'll need
Directions
- Lay the yard of white or cream cloth flat and fold it in half. Measure 1.5 inches inward from the folded edge and snip a half-inch slit.
- Grip the fabric on either side of your snip and pull gently to rip it. This will give you long strips with naturally frayed edges.
- Keep ripping the cloth until you have a heap of long strips. Then, use scissors to cut those long pieces into shorter segments, each measuring roughly 4 to 5 inches.
- Apply hot glue to the ends of the fabric strips and press them onto the clear plastic bowl. Overlap the ends as you go to ensure the entire surface is covered.
- For extra texture, tie a few of the fabric strips into knots before attaching them to the bowl.
- Attach the two googly eyes to the large buttons using your glue gun to create a larger, more dimensional look. Position these button eyes on the bowl, sliding them slightly underneath a fold of the fabric strips.
- Pour the entire bag of Hershey’s candy into your newly decorated mummy bowl.
