This project guides you through reshaping a standard wire wreath base into a crescent moon, wrapping it in black twine, and layering dark faux florals to create a moody centerpiece. A final touch of a faux crow adds a frightful finishing detail to your seasonal decor.

Directions

  1. Grab your heavy-duty wire cutters and snip away about one-sixth of the circular wreath base. Make sure to clip through any internal crossbars so the remaining wires can bend freely toward each other.
  2. Take your black duct tape and wrap it around the two exposed wire tips to bind them together, creating a sharp crescent shape. Ensure the tape completely covers any jagged metal edges, then repeat this process on the opposite side to secure the other tip.
  3. Apply a generous dot of hot glue to one taped end and press the start of your black twine onto it. Hold the strand firmly in place until the adhesive sets. Once secure, wind the twine tightly around the entire wire frame, working your way toward the other end while keeping the underlying metal as hidden as possible. Trim any leftover twine and seal the end with another dab of glue.
  4. To achieve that eerie atmosphere, begin arranging your dark faux flowers. Snip the stems from the largest blooms and attach them directly to the thicker, central section of the twine using hot glue. Next, trim the smaller flower clusters and foliage to fit, then tuck their stems underneath the larger blooms and glue them down to build a layered, moody look.
  5. Complete the spooky design by attaching your wire-backed faux crow to the bottom curve of the crescent shape.
