This craft uses twine, a washer, and a balloon to create a festive jack-o'-lantern. After forming the base, you add a crepe-paper stem and a black paper face. Perfect for Halloween decorations.
You'll need
Directions
- Determine the twine length needed by wrapping it around your inflated balloon, then add 6 inches before cutting. Prepare two more identical lengths.
- Thread the twine through a metal washer, looping or knotting it to create six evenly spaced spokes.
- Set the balloon on top of the washer. Take two opposite strands, bring them up, and tie them around the balloon's knot. Do the same with the remaining four strands.
- Snip the extra twine so only 1 inch remains, and cut off the rolled lip of the balloon knot. Apply a coat of glue to the strings and the leftover knot. Wrap a 4-inch section of crepe-paper streamer around the glued area, and secure the end with a dab of glue.
- Cut a jack-o'-lantern face from lightweight black construction paper and attach it to the balloon, following the design instructions.
