This project uses black and white paper, scissors, and glue to create a charming mummy figure that rocks back and forth. By layering diagonal strips over a curved base and adding expressive eyes, kids can build a festive decoration in just a few steps.
You'll need
Directions
- Use a plate or your pencil to draw a large circle on the black paper, then carefully cut it out.
- Fold the black circle in half and press down firmly along the fold to create a sturdy crease.
- Cut out two medium-sized white circles for the eyes and two smaller black circles for the pupils. Attach the black circles to the white ones using your glue stick.
- Position the completed eyes near the top edge of the folded black semicircle, ensuring they will be visible when the figure tilts.
- Cut two strips from the white paper with varying widths, angling the ends to mimic torn fabric. Feel free to create additional strips for extra wrapping.
- Apply the white strips diagonally across the black base, layering them while carefully avoiding the eye area.
- Trim any excess strip ends so they align perfectly with the curved edge. Add shorter pieces on top to enhance the wrapped appearance.
- Allow the adhesive to set completely, then place the mummy on its rounded edge and lightly tap it to see it rock back and forth.
