These 11 sensory bin ideas cover fall themes including pumpkins, apples, Halloween, and Thanksgiving. Each bin uses simple, tactile materials like rice, pasta, and faux gourds to spark imaginative play and fine motor skills.

Directions

  1. For a Fall sensory bin, fill a container with Life cereal to mimic hay bales, then add pumpkin crème candies, decorative apples, and a few cinnamon sticks for a lovely scent.
  2. Toddlers will enjoy a Pumpkin Soup sensory bin: set out one container with colored water, bowls, and scoops, and another container filled with acrylic pumpkins and acorns.
  3. Create a Little Acorn color sorting bin using dyed fall harvest pasta, unfinished wooden acorns, and small bowls painted in fall colors. Pair it with the book Little Acorn for extra fun.
  4. With a Harvest Corn bin, include DIY harvest corn, a squirrel figurine, fall leaves, and a sorting house to encourage imaginative play.
  5. Assemble a Pumpkin Patch bin with dyed green rice, Life cereal hay bales, a Little People tractor, a mini crate, and petite pumpkin pasta.
  6. For a Bonaparte Falls Apart Halloween bin, use dyed Halloween-shaped pasta, a printed skeleton, adhesive magnets, and a magnetic Flisat insert.
  7. Make a How to Scare a Ghost bin with dyed cooked spaghetti, ping-pong ball eyes, plastic rats and bats, a giant spider with web, skeleton tongs, and mini skull and green pumpkin baskets.
  8. Put together a Where Do Diggers Trick-or-Treat? bin with construction trucks, mini wooden blocks, Halloween porcupine balls, mini wood slices, and candy corn construction cones.
  9. For a Magical Witch bin, mix baking soda, vinegar, and food coloring in mini cauldrons, and add glitter, sequins, pumpkins, feathers, googly eyes, and spiders.
  10. Build a Cornucopia Thanksgiving bin using a cornucopia, artificial gourds, fall leaves, DIY harvest corn, harvest corn cobs, and small gardening tools.
  11. Create a Thankful Book bin with scoops, tweezers, tools, brightly colored pom poms, beads, and foam shapes, inspired by the book.
