Game Ideas for a Church Halloween Party
Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at myfrugalhalloween.com.
Directions
- Set up a "swamp" with a person behind and inside the decoration. Make "fishing poles" out of twigs and string with a big plastic "S" shower curtain hook on the end. When kids drop their line, someone in the back hooks on a spider, skeleton, witch, or other dollar store items.
- Let kids guess how many "eyeballs" are in a jar. Make eyeballs using ping pong balls with a magic marker and slightly tinted red water inside.
- Make a "wheel of misfortune" that kids can spin. Set prizes for different age groups: movie coupons/gift cards for older kids, coloring books for middle, and teddies for little ones.
- Play a game with pencils in a bale of hay; some are sharpened, most are not. If they select a sharpened one, they receive a prize.
- Have children dress up as Bible Characters. Kids take turns drawing a picture while others guess the Bible story (e.g., Noah's Ark).
- Make a cross from 2x2 wood sticks (6 feet vertical, 4 feet horizontal). Attach strings to hang down with mini donuts tied to them. Kids sit on a bench and eat without their hands; the first to finish swallowing wins.
- Play "Passing the apple" from neck to next person. Place the apple under your chin and turn to the next person in line to remove it in the same manner.
- Play bean bag toss, clothes pin in the bucket, sticky ball to velcro, musical chairs, and count the candy corn in the jar.
- Play a game where samples of candy bars are cut and placed under glass. Players must name the candy and guess the closest amount to win.
- Host a Trunk or Treat outside before the party where people decorate car trunks and hand out treats from them in the parking lot.
