Halloween Craft for Kids: Glitter Spiderweb and Pompom Spider
PHOTO · BUGGYANDBUDDY.COM

Create a glittery spider web using glue and black glitter on wax paper, then fashion a spider from a pompom and pipe cleaners. After drying and peeling, attach the spider with string. This project uses simple materials and creates a festive Halloween decoration.

You'll need

Directions

  1. Start by ripping a sheet of wax paper and laying it flat on your work surface. It's crucial to use actual wax paper—not parchment or other baking paper—because the waxy coating allows the dried glue to separate easily.
  2. Use the liquid glue to sketch a spider web design. Keep the glue lines nice and thick; thin lines might break apart when dry.
  3. Liberally sprinkle black glitter over the entire glue web.
  4. Carefully tap the wax paper to remove extra glitter, catching it on a paper plate so you can pour it back into the container for later use.
  5. Allow the web to dry fully; this took roughly a full day for our project.
  6. Once dry, carefully lift the spider web away from the wax paper.
  7. Now create the spider: take a black pompom and twist several short black chenille stems around it to form eight legs. Attach googly eyes with glue.
  8. Use a piece of black string to connect your spider to the web.
