This tutorial shows you how to build a 3D Halloween luminary using die-cut panels, stamped poison labels, and frosted acetate windows. Add spider accents, paper string, and a shimmering gold mist for a hauntingly beautiful centerpiece. The finished lantern features a wire ring handle, tissue tape trim, and mini pumpkin embellishments.
You'll need
Directions
- Start by die-cutting white cardstock using the 3D Luminary die to create four panels. Stamp the poison label background stamp with Jet Black Archival ink. Position a luminary panel on top, cover with scrap paper, and press to transfer the image.
- Next, apply different shades of orange Distress ink to the front and back of each panel using an inking tool.
- Attach Wonder Tape to every tab. Fold along all crease lines.
- Cut four pieces of acetate or transparency slightly bigger than the window openings. Cover each with Frosted Film. Glue these windows to the back of the panels, ensuring the frosted side faces outward.
- Die-cut four spiders from black cardstock and glue one in the center of each window. Remove the backing from the long tab and adhere it to the next panel. Then attach the smaller tabs. Repeat until the luminary is fully assembled.
- Cut the lantern top piece twice from black cardstock. Join the two pieces and fold as shown. Attach to the top of the lantern. Cut and assemble the base piece from black cardstock.
- To finish, add Striped Paper String and a Halloween Muse Token to the bottom. On top, create a ring from black wire and secure with hot glue. Add a sheer black bow and mini pumpkins. Trim the top with idea-ology Tissue Tape. Spritz with gold Perfect Pearls mist for sparkle.
