Halloween Moon and Witch Decor from a Glass Globe Light Fixture
Transform a glass globe light fixture into a spooky Halloween moon with a flying witch silhouette.
Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at sadieseasongoods.com.
This project turns a discarded glass globe into a glowing Halloween moon. You'll paint the inside with a sponge technique, add a black witch silhouette, and light it with an amber LED candle. It's an easy, atmospheric decoration.
You'll need
Directions
- Choose a putty-colored craft paint that is darker than the glass globe but not so dark that it loses the moon effect.
- Using a natural sponge with minimal paint, dab the paint onto the inside of the glass globe light fixture. Apply unevenly so the coverage is not opaque, mimicking a natural surface.
- Let the paint inside the globe dry completely.
- Search for a flying witch clip art image, resize it to fit the Halloween moon, and print it.
- Carefully cut out the printed witch shape.
- Use a white fabric pencil to trace the witch cutout onto heavy duty black card stock.
- Remove the light socket and paint the base of the fixture (you may leave any vintage labels exposed if you like).
- Attach the black witch cutout to the painted moon using a small loop of painter's tape.
- Place a jumbo amber LED tea light on the base to illuminate the moon.
