Craft a spooky-chic lighted Halloween frame with a glowing 'boo' and a pennant banner — perfect for festive décor!
Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at createcraftlove.com.
This DIY project transforms a foam block into a decorative Halloween frame using scrapbook paper, ribbon, and a battery-operated LED light strand. You'll cut out a frame shape, add a pennant banner, spell 'boo' in lights, and hide the battery pack in the back. Hang it up with a ribbon for a fun seasonal accent.
You'll need
Directions
- Take a sheet of scrapbook paper and cut it into a 10-inch by 10-inch square. Inside that, mark an 8-inch by 8-inch inner square. Apply Mod Podge to the foam block and press the paper onto it.
- Let the Mod Podge dry completely. Then use the StyroCutter® to carefully cut along the inner square line, removing the center to form a frame.
- Hide the bare foam edges by hot gluing 1-inch-wide ribbon all around the outer and inner borders of the frame.
- Cut several small pennant shapes from coordinating scrapbook paper. Hot glue each pennant onto a length of jute twine to create a banner.
- Attach the pennant banner across the front of the frame using hot glue, positioning it as desired.
- Grab some cute scrapbook brads that match the theme and glue them onto the corner opposite the banner for extra decoration.
- Take the battery-operated LED light strand and arrange the wire into cursive letters spelling 'boo' on the frame's front. Press the wire gently to hold.
- On the back of the foam frame, carve out a small cavity with the StyroCutter® to fit the battery pack snugly.
- Cover the back of the frame with a piece of contrasting scrapbook paper, then glue the light strand into place along your cursive design.
- Finish by hot gluing a length of ribbon to the top back of the frame to create a hanger.
