This tutorial shows how to build a 3D Halloween luminary using cardstock, stamps, and specialty papers. You'll die-cut panels, stamp poison labels, color with orange inks, add frosted windows with spider silhouettes, and assemble the lantern. Finish with decorative touches like wire rings, bows, mini pumpkins, and gold mist.

You'll need

Directions

  1. Use the 3D Luminary die to cut four panels from white cardstock. Apply Jet Black Archival ink to the poison label background stamp, place a luminary panel over it, cover with scrap paper, and press to transfer the image.
  2. Color both sides of each panel with varying shades of orange Distress ink using an inking tool.
  3. Attach Wonder Tape to all tabs, then crease each fold. It helps to cut an extra practice panel first.
  4. From acetate or transparency, cut four pieces slightly bigger than the window openings. Cover each with Frosted Film, making sure the frosted side faces outward, and glue them to the back of the panels.
  5. Cut four spiders out of black cardstock and glue one to the center of each window. Remove the backing from the long tab and attach to the next panel, then stick down the smaller tabs. Repeat until the luminary is fully assembled.
  6. Cut the lantern top piece from black cardstock twice, join and fold as shown, then glue to the top of the lantern. Cut and assemble the base piece from black cardstock.
  7. At the bottom, add Striped Paper String and a Halloween Muse Token. For the top, create a ring from black wire and secure with hot glue, then attach a sheer black bow and mini pumpkins. Wrap the top with idea-ology Tissue Tape and mist with gold Perfect Pearls.
