This tutorial walks you through ten steps to achieve a zombie makeup effect. It covers foundation, eyeshadow contouring, creating raised bumps with glue, and building a ragged wound from toilet paper. The final step explains how to make fake blood with honey and food coloring for a gory finish.
Directions
- Start with a very light foundation. Then take a greenish eyeshadow (shade 1 from the palette shown at the end) and spread it over your face to cover, but do not blend it evenly.
- Use eyeshadow number 2 to outline the lower eyelid and the under-eye area.
- Apply shade 3 over shade 2, and also put it underneath your lips.
- Strongly outline your eyes with shade 4. Then, with your face in the exact position shown in my photo, contour your cheekbones and collarbones using the same shade to achieve a sickly, drained look.
- Cut small pieces of paper glue and place them on your face to create raised little bumps.
- Take one square of toilet paper and separate it into layers until you have a very thin sheet. Tear it into pieces and stick them on to form a ragged, fringed effect.
- Apply foundation over most of the paper pieces, arranging them so that the edges stick up.
- Apply black eyeliner in the center of the paper area, using the brush to create a hole, and leave the fringed edges as is to resemble dead skin.
- Using a brush, apply red lipstick and spread it chaotically. Then outline the 'wound' on the outside with black eyeshadow, also messily.
- To make fake blood: I used water, maple syrup, food coloring, and a bit of flour to try to thicken it, but it ended up too light and runny because I added too much water. My suggestion is to use only honey and food coloring. If you have gel food coloring, add a little water. If using liquid coloring, add a bit of black eyeliner for a darker hue and skip the water—just use honey.
