Halloween: Mummy Cheese Pizza Bagels

This Halloween treat transforms plain bagels into mummy faces using pizza sauce, string cheese bandages, and olive eyes. Bake them until the cheese melts, then serve on a custom black-and-orange polka dot plate you paint yourself. It’s a fun, kid-friendly activity and snack in one.

Ingredients

1 bagel(3 1/2 inch/plain), cut in half

2 tablespoons pizza sauce

2 mozzarella string cheese sticks

4 black olive slices

Directions

First, create a polka dot plate at As You Wish. Coat the whole plate with 2-3 layers of black paint. Then, using a pencil eraser, stamp orange dots onto the plate—either just on the rim or all over—by dipping the eraser in orange paint and pressing lightly.

Set your oven to heat up to 400°F. Take a plain 3½-inch bagel, slice it in half, and spread 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce on each cut side.

Pull apart two mozzarella string cheese sticks into thin strips. Arrange the strips in a zigzag pattern over the sauce on each bagel half to mimic mummy bandages, trimming off any excess cheese.

Place the bagels on a baking sheet and bake at 400°F for about 10 minutes, until the cheese has melted.

Let them cool slightly, then add two olive slices onto each bagel half to resemble mummy eyes.

Transfer the mummy bagels to your hand-painted polka dot plate and enjoy.
