Ingredients
Directions
- Set your oven to 385°F to preheat.
- Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper and put it aside.
- On a clean surface, unroll one can of pizza dough and press it into a 14x14-inch square. Lightly spray the surface with oil if needed to prevent sticking.
- Layer the meats on the dough: first pepperoni, then hard salami (filling gaps), and finally the ham.
- Add a slice of provolone on top of the meat, then scatter the sliced pepperoncini and shredded mozzarella. Sprinkle most of the grated parmesan over everything, saving about 1 tablespoon for later.
- Starting from the edge nearest you, roll the stromboli tightly into a log. Pinch the seams and edges to seal. Place the log seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, red pepper flakes, and black food coloring. Brush this black butter mixture all over the stromboli, then sprinkle the reserved parmesan on top.
- Open the second can of pizza dough and cut it into 1-inch-wide strips using a knife or scissors. The strips should be long enough to span the stromboli.
- Lay the strips across the stromboli in a crisscross pattern to mimic a mummy’s wrappings. Leave a small gap near the top where the eyes will go.
- Tuck the ends of the strips under the stromboli using your finger or a butter knife. For a golden finish, lightly spray the top with oil.
- Bake the stromboli for about 30 minutes. If the top browns too quickly, cover it loosely with aluminum foil.
- Take the stromboli out of the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes. Then press the candy eyeballs into the exposed area near the top.
- Serve with pizza sauce or marinara for dipping.
