This project guides you through creating five distinct Halloween characters using basic craft supplies like yarn, cardboard tubes, and pipe cleaners. By winding yarn around toilet paper rolls and shaping the resulting pom poms, you can craft a ghost, pumpkin, spider, scarecrow, and Frankenstein monster. Place a strand of yarn between the two cardboard tubes, then begin winding the yarn around the entire assembly. Avoid pulling the strands too snugly as you go.

Continue winding until the bundle is densely packed. Once the loops are sufficiently thick, snip the working yarn.

Measure and cut a separate 12-inch length of yarn. Thread this piece through the center of the tubes, positioning it beneath the wound loops. Pull the ends to cinch the center tightly, then secure with a double knot. Carefully pull the cardboard tubes away from the yarn bundle.

Using scissors, cut through the exposed loops of yarn on both sides of the cinched center.

The resulting sphere will initially appear messy and irregular.

Even out the texture by trimming the longer strands until the pom pom forms a neat, spherical shape.

To create the ghost, simply adhere googly eyes to the white pom pom using quick-dry tacky glue.

To build the spider, cut eight lengths of black pipe cleaner. Bend these into leg shapes and glue them to the black pom pom. Attach any number of googly eyes you prefer.

For the scarecrow, use buttons for eyes and a small piece of pipe cleaner for a mouth. Cut a hat and nose from colored cardstock and glue them onto the pom pom.

To make Frankenstein, start by wrapping your pom pom maker with black yarn for the top section, then switch to green yarn for the rest. Use pipe cleaners to form the neck bolts and the iconic stitches on the face.
