This Halloween art activity combines painting and cutting to make a haunted house silhouette craft. Kids paint a colorful background, then glue on a pre-cut house template and add black paper ghosts or bats. It's a simple, mess-contained project that dries quickly.

- Assemble all supplies and spread newspaper or a plastic sheet over your work area to keep it clean.
- Give your child a piece of white card stock and some paint. Kwik Stix solid paint sticks work great—they're simple for little hands and dry in about 90 seconds.
- Have your child pick three favorite colors (a good chance to talk about cool versus warm colors) and cover the whole white sheet with paint. Let it dry completely.
- While the paint dries, cut out the haunted house silhouettes. You can print one of four different house templates provided, or design your own.
- Let your child attach the haunted house cutout to the painted paper using glue or tape.
- Add extra spooky details like ghost or bat shapes cut from black card stock paper.
- Display your finished haunted house craft and enjoy the spooky decoration!
