Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at sadieseasongoods.com.
This project repurposes a vintage round light fixture into a unique Halloween decoration. By painting a classic face on the glass globe and adding an LED candle, you create a safe, glowing jack-o-lantern that stands out.
You'll need
Directions
- Take apart the vintage light fixture by unscrewing the base. Give the globe a good cleaning, and if there are any old wires or insulation inside the socket, remove them completely.
- On a piece of scrap paper, draw a classic jack-o-lantern face. To get the proportions right, trace the rim of the glass globe to match its width, then sketch a wide grin and triangular eyes and nose.
- Cut out the paper face pieces. Position them on the glass globe, secure with tape, and lightly trace around each shape with a pencil.
- Use black acrylic craft paint (a paint pen works too) to outline and fill in the traced eyes, nose, and mouth. Let the paint dry completely.
- Set an LED battery-operated candle with an amber-orange glow onto the fixture's base. The light will shine through the painted face for a spooky effect.
