These Halloween mini pizzas are perfect for a festive meal or party snack. You'll make a spider pizza with olive legs, a jack o'lantern pizza with a pepperoni face, and a mummy pizza with string cheese wrappings. The dough is easy to make from scratch and bakes up in minutes.
Ingredients
Directions
- Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar in a medium bowl and whisk. Set aside for five minutes until it becomes bubbly. Then stir in flour and salt, mixing until dough starts to come together. Lightly knead the dough, adding a little extra flour if needed to achieve a soft consistency. Cover the dough and allow it to rest for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 500°F. After resting, split the dough into six equal portions and let them sit for another five minutes. Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or a silicone mat, then dust with cornmeal.
- For the spider design, flatten one dough piece into a five-inch round. Spread pizza sauce over it and then sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Take a black olive and cut it lengthwise in half; place one half cut-side down on the pizza to make the spider's body. Trim the tip off another olive to create a head. Slice the leftover olive parts into thin strips for legs and position them on each side of the body.
- For the jack o'lantern, pinch off a tiny bit of dough from one ball and set it aside. Mold the larger piece into an oval resembling a pumpkin. Roll the reserved dough into a small stem and attach it to the top of the pumpkin shape. Cover with pizza sauce, then layer mozzarella and cheddar cheese on top. Use a knife to cut pepperoni slices into a jack o'lantern face and place them on the cheese.
- For the mummy, pull apart the string cheese into thin strands. Flatten a dough piece into a five-inch circle and spread sauce over it. Set two olive slices near the top to serve as eyes. Then arrange the string cheese strips across the pizza in a crisscross pattern to mimic mummy bandages.
- Transfer the assembled pizzas to the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 9 minutes, or until the crust begins to brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
