Learn how to turn orange bottles, coffee syrup containers, and glass jars into spooky Halloween decorations using Mod Podge, tissue paper, and lights.
You'll need
Directions
- Take your orange bottle and sketch a spooky expression directly onto the surface using a black marker.
- Apply a thin, even layer of Mod Podge to the exterior of one coffee syrup bottle.
- Press a sheet of white tissue paper onto the glued surface of the first bottle, smoothing it out to remove air bubbles.
- For the second bottle, apply Mod Podge and then adhere orange tissue paper, opting for either a single large sheet or fragmented pieces to mimic a stained-glass look.
- After the tissue paper adheres, brush another coat of Mod Podge over the entire bottle to seal it, then allow it to cure fully.
- Once the sealed bottles are dry, use your marker to draw distinct faces on each one.
- For extra durability, spray the finished bottles with acrylic sealer once the marker ink has dried.
- To create the mummy decoration, take a glass jar and attach a pair of googly eyes using hot glue.
- Secure the end of a gauze roll to the rim of the jar with hot glue.
- Wrap the gauze around the jar until it is covered, then trim the excess and glue the final end to the base.
- Illuminate your creations: place a tealight or battery-operated candle inside the mummy jar, insert a 20-count strand of orange lights into the Mod Podge pumpkin, use a USB bottle light for the ghost, and attach a solar light to the orange bottle pumpkin.
