Turn lychees into eerie eyeballs with just blueberries and red food coloring. These easy skewers make perfect Halloween cocktail garnishes that look creepy but taste great.
Ingredients
Directions
- Open the can of lychees and pour off most of the syrup (save it for cocktails later). Take each lychee out gently and place on a paper towel to dry a bit. Their pale, shiny surface already looks like creepy eyeballs.
- In a small bowl, combine a few drops of red food coloring with one to two tablespoons of the saved syrup. Stir gently. Lightly dip or brush the outer edges of each lychee with this mixture to create a bloodshot effect. Use just a little—too much will hide the natural gloss.
- Press one blueberry into the hole in the center of each lychee where the pit used to be. The dark blue or black berry looks just like a pupil, making a perfect contrast with the pale lychee.
- Carefully push a cocktail pick or skewer through the blueberry and lychee to hold them together. Rest the skewer on the rim of your drink or let it float inside for an extra-spooky effect.
