Directions
- Take a medium-sized ball of air-dry clay—white or cream works best. Flatten it so it's thick enough to shape without cracking.
- Grab a small cup, vase, or jar. Place a tiny ball or a piece of crumpled foil over the opening so a portion sticks out to create the head shape.
- Drape your flattened clay over the top of the jar. Gently press it into the ball to form the head, letting the clay hang down around the jar.
- If you'd like, carve out eyes and a small mouth.
- Make sure the bottom of your ghost sits flat on the ground, though you can leave the edges uneven for a floating look.
- Once the clay is completely dry, brush a layer of glue paste like Mod Podge onto the ghost.
- Carefully press a single layer of patterned paper napkin onto the glue. Smooth it out with a paintbrush or your finger to avoid wrinkles, then seal it with another layer of paste.
- Instead of napkins, you can paint designs using acrylic paints. After drying, spray with a clear coat to prevent fading and give a shiny finish.
- Decorate with extras like a felt or fabric witch's hat, a ceramic bow, or a clay jack-o-lantern friend.
- Show off your ghosts as they are, or light them up with warm fairy lights or a flickering LED candle.
