You'll need
Directions
- Apply a single base color of acrylic paint to the birdhouse, choosing a shade that matches your decorative papers.
- Make a template by laying copy paper or a transparency over the birdhouse.
- Place the paper on the birdhouse, fold it along the edges, and trace those edges with a pencil.
- Cut just outside the pencil lines to form your template.
- Check the fit by setting the template on the birdhouse; trim any extra if needed.
- Place the template on the patterned paper, trace around it, and cut out the shape.
- Set the cut paper onto the birdhouse to confirm the fit; trim off any overhang.
- Attach the paper piece to the birdhouse with adhesive—Yes! Paste works well.
- For the roof, cut patterned paper into 1/2-inch by 12-inch strips and feed them through a paper crimper.
- Snip the crimped strips into smaller sections to resemble roof shingles.
- Glue these shingle pieces to the roof using a hot glue gun.
- Finish by embellishing the birdhouse with stickers or other decorations as you like.
