This project turns a cardboard pumpkin into an interactive felt board for swapping faces and accessories. Simply cut out a pumpkin shape, cover it with orange felt, then craft a collection of felt eyes, noses, and other decorations. Kids can rearrange the pieces to design a new pumpkin face whenever they like.

You'll need

Directions

  1. Start by sketching a pumpkin shape on a big piece of cardboard, then cut it out with scissors.
  2. Place the cardboard pumpkin on orange felt and trace around it, leaving a half-inch border. Cut out the felt shape.
  3. Apply white glue to the cardboard and press the felt onto it, smoothing out any bubbles.
  4. Cut a length of ribbon, form it into a loop, and attach it to the back of the pumpkin using hot glue.
  5. Using leftover felt in black, white, blue, green, pink, and purple, cut out a variety of eyes, noses, mouths, and accessories to mix and match on your pumpkin.
