This project guides you through painting peat pots, adding ruffled crepe paper accents, and crafting a ribbon-wrapped pipe cleaner handle. Finish by attaching a free printable design to complete your festive treat container.

You'll need

Directions

  1. Apply a layer of warm white craft paint to the exterior of both the 3-inch and 5-inch peat pots. Allow the coating to dry completely before moving on.
  2. Gather the black crepe paper roll by hand to create ruffles. Secure the gathered paper to the interior wall of the pot using a hot glue gun, positioning the bottom edge roughly half an inch down from the rim. Continue gluing around the entire circumference. For added volume, repeat this process with a second layer of ruffled paper.
  3. Wrap a strip of ribbon around the exterior top edge of the pot and secure it in place with hot glue.
  4. Take three pipe cleaners and intertwine them to form a sturdy braid. As you wrap ribbon around this braided core, use hot glue to attach the ribbon, creating a decorative handle.
  5. Position the completed handle on the inner top surface of the pot and fasten it securely with hot glue.
  6. Print your chosen design, such as a witch's hat, cut it out, and adhere it to the front of the container using glue.
