This DIY project transforms plain wooden eggs into charming woodland animals perfect for fall decor. With paint, cardstock, and a few simple tools, you'll create cute creatures with expressive faces, ears, antlers, and tails. Follow the step-by-step instructions to bring your own woodland menagerie to life.

You'll need

Directions

  1. Paint the wooden eggs in brown, grey, and red/orange. Apply 2-3 coats and let the paint dry fully. Then lightly sketch facial features and a belly patch with a pencil.
  2. Fill in the facial details and stomach patch using colors that complement the base. Wait for the paint to dry completely, then use a black paint pen or permanent marker to add noses to each egg.
  3. Draw sassy eyelashes with a pencil. When you're happy with the look, go over them with a black paint pen or permanent marker.
  4. Get the woodland animal autumn template, print it, and cut out the pieces. Trace the template shapes onto colored cardstock.
  5. Cut out ears for each animal, including the inner pink part, from colored cardstock.
  6. Glue the ear pieces together. Cut antlers from brown cardstock, then attach the ears and antlers to the top of the eggs using hot glue.
  7. Cut out tails from colored cardstock.
  8. Paint details on each tail using colors that complement the base.
