This DIY project shows you how to make yarn tassel ghosts with felt eyes and thread them onto a string with alternating wooden beads. Perfect for adding a handmade touch to your Halloween decor on windows, staircases, or mantels.

You'll need

Directions

  1. Take your white yarn and wrap it around your hand or a piece of cardboard about 30 to 40 times. Gently slide the bundle off and secure the top by tying a small piece of yarn around it. Snip the bottom loops to create the tassel body. Then, tie another small yarn piece roughly 1/2 to 1 inch below the top to form the ghost's head.
  2. From black felt, cut out tiny oval shapes for eyes. Use a hot glue gun to attach them to the ghost. Let the glue set completely.
  3. On a length of twine or string, thread wooden beads in an alternating pattern of small and large. Slide a yarn ghost onto the string by inserting the string through the loop at the top of its head. Continue alternating beads and ghosts until you reach your desired length. To keep them in place, tie small knots on both sides of each ghost.
  4. Adjust the spacing between ghosts as you like. Secure the ends and hang the garland on a window, staircase, or mantel.
