Dollar Store Halloween Wreath
Create a spooky dollar store Halloween wreath with skeleton hands and a chalkboard center.
Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at eighteen25.com.
This budget-friendly Halloween wreath uses nine plastic skeleton hands spray-painted silver and arranged around a small round chalkboard. The chalkboard can be personalized with a seasonal message using a chalk pen. The project is quick, inexpensive, and most supplies cost a dollar or less.
You'll need
Directions
- Gather your materials: nine plastic skeleton hands, a small round chalkboard, hot glue and a glue gun, a chalk pen, and silver spray paint. Many of these items cost just a dollar or less, excluding the spray paint. The skeleton hands come from Dollar Tree, while the chalkboard and chalk pen are from Target's Dollar Spot.
- Spray the skeleton hands with a few even coats of silver metallic paint. Even inexpensive plastic hands look much better with a metallic finish.
- Apply a generous amount of hot glue to the back of each hand and attach them around the edge of the chalkboard. You can add extra glue later if necessary.
- Draw a design in the middle of the chalkboard using the chalk pen. Keep in mind that chalk pens are hard to erase completely and often leave a faint ghost image. (You might notice my first "Boo!" attempt left a remnant after I tried to remove it.)
- If your chalkboard doesn't already have a hanger, glue a string to the back for hanging. Mine came with a built-in hanging handle, which was very convenient.
