Enamel-Painted Halloween Vases
Turn ordinary tins into spooky Halloween vases with enamel paint and a little creativity.
Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at radmegan.com.
This project transforms old tins into Halloween-themed vases using enamel spray paint and paint pens. You can create a Frankenstein's monster design with bolts and a zig-zag stitch, or a simple ghost face. Finish by filling the tins with flowers or other spooky decorations.
You'll need
Directions
- Take your tins and a piece of scrap cardboard outside. Spray the tins lightly and evenly with enamel spray paint, letting each coat dry completely before applying the next.
- After two to three coats of paint have been applied and dried, get your enamel paint pens ready.
- If making a Frankenstein's monster, use a black paint pen on a green can. Draw a zig-zag line around the top of the can, then fill it in completely with solid black.
- Add a simple monster face using white and red paint pens to create scars and eyeballs for contrast.
- Glue bolts or nuts to the lower part of the monster's “neck.” Use masking tape to hold them in place while the glue dries.
- For a simple ghost face, use white spray paint for the base and a black paint pen to draw two eyes and a mouth. That's it—boo!
- Assemble an arrangement of flowers, feathers, bones, or other spooky items, and fill your tins for Halloween decorations.
